The Big Island's Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii chapter plans to complete 10 homes in the next 18 months

Clark Realty Corporation Community FundNominated as a 2011 Clark Realty Corporation Community Fund grantee by Cindy Whittemore, R(S) of our Keauhou office, Habitat for Humanity – West Hawaii is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. In 2010, Habitat – West Hawaii helped three Big Island families obtain affordable housing. Their plans for the coming year are even more ambitious:  10 homes in the next 18 months. To commemorate their 10th anniversary in 2012, the organization is planning a “Build Blitz” during which 5 homes will be built simultaneously.

“My family’s interest in supporting Habitat for Humanity on the Big Island began after I worked with one of the founding members on a real estate transaction several years ago,” says Cindy. “My husband is a past president and continues to serve as a board member. As a real estate brokerage, Clark Realty shares an interest in affordable housing and sustainability issues, which are two key concerns of Habitat. Contributing to their mission is a pleasure and an opportunity to contribute to the health of our community.”

About CRCCF

Clark Realty Corporation’s Community Fund was established in January 2005 as a component fund of the Hawaii Community Foundation. Contributions made to CRCCF are used to make grants that support Big Island programs promoting lifelong learning, healthy lifestyles, an appreciation of the local environment and the arts and programs that seek to identify and meet needs of individuals or groups within our community.

This year, several Big Island groups were nominated by our agents to receive grants from CRCCF. Eight were selected as our 2011 grantees. If you would like more information about CRCCF, or if you would like to make a donation to the 2011 campaign, please visit the About CRCCF page. Mahalo for your support!
