The 9th Annual Luck of the Irish Golf Tournament was held Monday, March 14 at the Jack Nicklaus designed golf course at Hokuli’a. Hawaii Island United Way is the exclusive beneficiary for this premier event, through the generous efforts of Title Sponsor Hokuli’a Development, Corporate Sponsor Oceanic Time Warner Cable and other local business partners.
Golfer found the Pot of Gold!
For the first time in tournament history, on his second hole of the day, one lucky golfer hit a hole-in-one on # 13 and won a Chevrolet Cruze, courtesy of Big Island Toyota. Prizes were also given for the longest drive and closest to the pin, as well as overall tournament prizes. An award ceremony capped the day and golfers enjoyed a sumptuous buffet lunch served by Hokuli’a at the club’s pavilion overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Wearing Of the Green
Linda Moulin R(S) and I were among the many Hawaii Island United Way volunteers working at the tournament to insure the event ran smoothly and the golfers enjoyed the day.
Proceeds from the Luck of the Irish Tournament help to generate funds for the 41 partner agencies and 55 programs that Hawaii Island United Way supports through its mission to “Unite people, organizations and resources to build a healthy community.”
