With beautiful clear skies and a light breeze, this morning’s weather couldn’t have been better for Big Island real estate agents to preview some of the fine homes available for sale in the charming community of Puako.
In keeping with the ‘green’ theme of many of our recent agent tours, I decided to bike Puako Beach Drive to see all the open houses today, so I parked at the Puako boat ramp, rode to all the open houses and then biked down to Paniau at the south end of Puako. Of course, since there are several ocean access points along the way, it was very tempting to take a detour and get into the water for a swim or snorkel, but I managed to make it back to the Waimea office just a few minutes after my carpooling colleagues!
Puako is truly a special place. The mix of elegant high-end homes and classic old-style beach cottages is such a great reflection of what is unique about our Big Island community. On Puako Beach Drive, even the homes not directly oceanfront receive the gentle trade winds, making for a pleasant tropical experience, whether you live here full time or stay in one of the many vacation rentals available for an island getaway.
Diving, snorkeling, kayaking and boating are easily accessible for Puako residents and visitors, especially with the convenience of the nearby Puako boat landing to launch your fishing or sailing boats for far-ranging excursions. And, from Puako you are just minutes from the best beaches in Hawaii – Hapuna, Waialea (Beach 69) and Kauna’oa at Mauna Kea as well as Kohala’s other Gold Coast resorts.
